Job summary

BHC Alhambra Hospital in Rosemead, CA is seeking a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) to provide compassionate psychiatric nursing care under the direction of a Registered Nurse. Shifts available include 11:00 pm - 7:30 am, with focus on collecting data, monitoring vitals, and reporting changes to the Charge Nurse.

The LVN will work with a multidisciplinary team to support treatment plans for children, adolescents and adults.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited vocational school of nursing with a focus on psychiatric care.
• CA LVN license required.
• 1+ year of psychiatric nursing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Accurately collect data for the integrated assessment.
• Take and record vital signs.
• Observe changes in patient appearance, behavior, and progress toward treatment goals.
• Notify Charge Nurse of changes in patient condition.
• Report signs of infection to the Charge Nurse.

Job Description:

The LVN performs under the direction of a Registered Nurse in providing nursing care to assigned patients, utilizing basic understanding of psychiatric and personality disorders.

Key Responsibilities Include

• Accurately collect data needed for the appropriate portion of the integrated assessment.
• Take and record vital signs properly.
• Observe for, and document changes in patient’s appearance, behavior and ability to work toward treatment plan goals.
• Communicate changes in patient’s condition to the Charge Nurse.
• Report signs and symptoms of infection in resident to the Charge Nurse

Requirements

Qualifications

• Education: Graduate from an accredited professional vocational school of nursing or vocational training as a psychiatric technician, preferably with education in Child and Adolescent Development.
• Experience: Minimum one (1) year LVN in psychiatric nursing preferred, with six (6) months experience in the specialized area of Child and Adolescent Development preferred.
• Licensure: Licensed to practice vocational nursing from the State Board of Nursing or Psychiatric Technicians.
