PetVet Care Centers' Whitesburg Animal Hospital in Huntsville, Alabama, is seeking a Licensed Veterinary Technician to join our team. The role focuses on providing high-quality patient care and exceptional client service, with responsibilities spanning examinations, diagnostics, surgery assistance, nursing care, and medical record maintenance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Must be a Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT).
• Relevant experience with veterinary appointments, surgeries, and nursing care for hospitalized and critical patients.
• May consider an equivalent combination of education, certification, training, and/or experiences.
• Ability to work with or around sick animals, potentially hazardous materials, cleaning chemicals, gas anesthetics, zoonotic diseases, and unpleasant odors.
• Display confidence and reassurance when dealing with pets experiencing severe stress, illness, or pain.
• Communicate and approach job duties in a professional and mature manner.
• This is a strenuous job that requires a lot of lifting, cleaning, and constant motion.
• Depending on the functional area of assignment, tasks may involve extended periods at a keyboard and/or standing/walking.
• May include climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
• Some tasks involve lifting or carrying moderately heavy animals (up to 50 pounds).
• Answer phones and perform other duties as needed by the hospital.
• Applicants must be 18 years of age or older to be considered for this position

Responsabilités

• Provide patient care by determining animal requirements, conducting examinations and diagnostic procedures, and maintaining records.
• Assist during surgery and other procedures as directed by the veterinarian.
• Administer medications, vaccines, and nursing care; monitor patients.
• Maintain medical records and inventory; ensure equipment and supplies are ready.
• Communicate with pet owners about patient status and care instructions.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and humane hospital environment.
• Release pets to owners following medical clearance.
