Job summary

Animal Emergency & Referral Center of Minnesota is seeking a Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) or Veterinary Assistant (VA) to join its Neurology team. You will provide advanced nursing care for neurology patients, assist with exams, diagnostics, and procedures, and help manage hospitalized cases.

Ideal candidates are organized, curious, collaborative, and eager to learn Neurology. The role involves mentoring Veterinary Assistants and supporting a multidisciplinary team in a busy emergency

Qualifications

• Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) or Veterinary Assistant (VA) aligned for neurology.
• Strong nursing foundation and ability to handle medically complex patients.
• Willingness to learn Neurology and work with a specialty team.

Responsibilities

• Facilitating outpatient Neurology appointments with patient histories and assessments.
• Assisting with neurologic examinations, diagnostics, treatments, and procedures.
• Providing advanced nursing care for hospitalized Neurology patients.
• Performing venipuncture, IV catheter placement, lab testing, radiography and sample collection.
• Preparing and monitoring patients for sedation and anesthesia.
• Supporting advanced imaging and surgical procedures.
• Administering medications, IV fluids, analgesics, and prescribed treatments.
• Maintaining accurate medical records, treatment sheets, and patient charges.
• Supervising Veterinary Assistants and other support team members.
