Job summary

Nashville Veterinary Specialists and Animal Emergency is seeking a Licensed Veterinary Technician to join our Oncology team in Nashville, TN. This role supports doctors during exams, chemotherapy, and procedures, while supervising patient care and safety throughout shifts.

Ideal candidates possess LVMT/CVT/LVT/RVT licensure with 1+ year of hospital experience, strong radiography skills, anesthesia training, and a commitment to team-based care in a fast-paced hospital.

Qualifications

  • Must have LVMT CVT, LVT, or RVT licensure and at least 1+ years of veterinary hospital experience.
  • In-depth understanding of veterinary medicine and basic disease processes.
  • Broad technical abilities including phlebotomy, catheterization, radiographs, and anesthesia.

Responsibilities

  • Provide medical and surgical support as part of oncology team.
  • Assist veterinarians with patient exams, chemotherapy and treatments.
  • Position, restrain and monitor patients; perform in-house lab work as needed.

Nashville Veterinary Specialists + Animal Emergency is searching for Veterinary Technicians to join ourGROWINGteam!

Licensed veterinary technicians (LVT) are truly the lifeblood of our hospital. Without our LVT, no procedures (surgical, medical, or otherwise) would be performed on our patients. Also, we would not be able to provide the care to our patients and the guidance to their families that is required for positive patient outcomes.

Requirements:
  • Must have LVMT CVT, LVT, or RVT licensure and at least 1+ years of veterinary hospital experience
  • Have a reasonably in-depth understanding of veterinary medicine and basic disease processes
  • Have broad technical abilities (Phlebotomy, catheterization, patient restraint, radiographs, in-house lab, pharmacology, medication/fluid/oxygen administration, etc.)
  • Phlebotomy and catheterization skills
  • Patient restraint and handling skills
  • Anesthesia trained
  • Required to participate in weekend anesthesia on-call and specialty weekend sign up
  • Patient radiograph skills- positioning and technique
  • Understanding of medical terminology
  • Pharmacology and medication administration skills
  • Doctor assistant/anticipation skills- chemotherapy, patient exams, etc
