Job summary

Southview Animal Hospital & Urgent Care in West St Paul, MN is seeking a Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) to join our growing General Practice team. This role emphasizes client relations, high-quality medicine, and collaboration with a skilled veterinary team.

Qualifications

  • Must hold a valid LVT license in Minnesota.
  • Experience as a veterinary technician in a general practice setting preferred.
  • Exotic animal experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality nursing care to veterinary patients throughout their visit.
  • Assist veterinarians with physical examinations, diagnostics, treatments, and procedures.
  • Obtain patient histories and assist with client communication and education.
  • Perform blood draws, place and maintain IV catheters, and collect laboratory samples.
  • Run and interpret in-house laboratory diagnostics.
  • Administer medications and vaccinations as directed by the veterinarian.
  • Monitor patient comfort, health, and recovery throughout treatment.
  • Assist with dental procedures and routine preventive care.
  • Take and develop diagnostic radiographs.
  • Assist with patient restraint and handling using low-stress and Fear Free techniques.
  • Educate clients regarding medications, treatments, nutrition, preventive care, and follow-up recommendations.
  • Maintain accurate medical records and treatment documentation.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe treatment area.
  • Work collaboratively with veterinarians and the veterinary support team.
  • Provide compassionate care to patients and their families.

What You Will Do

What We Are Looking For
  • Licensed Veterinary Technician LVT
  • CVT, LVT, or RVT credentialed veterinary technician
  • Previous veterinary technician experience preferred
  • Strong patient care and technical skills
  • Excellent communication and client service skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced veterinary hospital
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize multiple tasks
  • Compassionate approach to patient care
  • Ability to work independently while also contributing to a collaborative team
  • Interest in general practice veterinary medicine
  • Exotic animal experience is a plus
Schedule
  • Full time preferred, 30-40hrs/week
  • Daytime and evening shifts
  • Evening availability is a plus and is our primary scheduling need
  • Specific schedule and hours can be discussed during the interview process
Compensation, Benefits & Perks
  • Pay range: $24.00 – $27.00 per hour, based on experience and credentials
