About the Role

North Country Veterinary Clinic in Grand Rapids, MN is an established small animal clinic. We’re a friendly, caring, and fun group that loves what we do, and it shows in how we approach our clients, patients, and each other. Our goal is to find a positive, motivated veterinary technician to join our team. We’re looking for someone who has great people skills and a commitment to providing the best possible care and service to pets and their people.


We are looking for a Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) or LVT-Eligible Candidate (Former CVT) to join our compassionate team.


In this position, you will assist our veterinarians by utilizing your clinical knowledge and skills while maintaining the highest standard of patient care and hygiene. You will participate in multiple procedures including physical examinations, dental procedures, surgeries, immunizations, diagnostic testing, and client education.


Compensation

Range starting at $18/hour depending on experience. This position is also eligible for a periodic bonus.

Primary Job Responsibilities

Medical/Clinical/Surgical


  • Medical History & Diagnostics: Obtain and record thorough patient histories. Collect specimens and perform routine laboratory testing

  • Patient Handling: Restrain animals in a safe, efficient, and compassionate manner during examinations and procedures. Safely handle fractious or fearful animals.

  • Treatments & Nursing: Dispense and administer prescribed medications, vaccines, serums and fluids. Provide specialized nursing care for ill or injured animals.

  • Imaging: Take and process digital diagnostic and dental radiographs

  • Prepare patients, surgical instruments, and specialized equipment for procedures.

  • Administer and monitor anesthesia under the direct supervision of a veterinarian.

  • Ensure monitoring and support equipment are calibrated and in optimal working order.

  • Educate clients on preventative care (vaccines, parasite control, senior wellness, dental health, spay/neuter).

  • Instruct clients on post-discharge home care, surgical recovery, and medication administration.

  • Perform follow-up calls for post-surgical patients.


Hospital Operations & Compliance


  • Maintain accurate records for dispensed medications and controlled substances.

  • Clean, maintain, and sterilize surgical instruments, equipment, and medical supplies.

  • Maintain pharmaceuticals and inventory, stocking exam rooms and treatment areas as needed.

  • Ensure practice compliance with federal and state regulations, including OSHA and DEA guidelines.


Qualifications & Licensure Requirements


  • Licensure Status: Preferred: Current Minnesota Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) license in good standing or LVT-Eligible: Former CVT experienced technician actively pursuing Minnesota state LVT licensure.
