Qualifications

Job description

This position is offering up to a $7,000 sign on bonus based on experience.

BluePearl Pet Hospital - Brooklyn is seeking skilled Licensed Veterinary Technicians to join our fast-paced ICU team.

Schedule: Day Shifts; Thurs - Sat + EO Wed, 7am - 7pm.

Pay: $30.00 - $51.32 / hour + competitive shift differentials.

Shift Differentials are based on a 4‑hour minimum. For example:

• Mon – Fri: 6pm to 8am = +$4.50/hr.
• Sat & Sun: 8am to 6pm = +$4.50/hr.
• Sat & Sun: 6pm to 8am = +$8.00/hr.

Responsibilities

• Induce, monitor, and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
• Triage emergency cases as they arrive at the hospital including obtaining vitals such as temperature, heart rate, respiratory rate, and blood pressure.
• Perform digital radiography using proper technique and correct positioning of patients.
• Have a complete understanding of normal ranges of patient vital signs, including heart rate, respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure, and oxygen saturation.
• Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes and issues.
• Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.
• Calculate medical math (including constant rate infusions) and administer medications via appropriate routes and durations.
• Perform phlebotomy and place intravenous catheters in all peripheral vessels.
• Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters.
• Mentor and train other co‑workers.
• Demonstrate patience and empathy to address client concerns.
