Job summary

Small Door Inc. in Washington, DC is seeking a veterinary nurse to join our state-of-the-art hospital. This role focuses on triage, patient assessment, diagnostics, and compassionate care, within a fast-paced, Fear Free, AAHA-accredited environment.

Licensure in VA/DC/MD is required to be eligible. You’ll work with a supportive team, 24/7 telehealth resources, and modern facilities designed for pets, clients, and veterinarians.

Qualifications

• Must be licensed to practice in VA, DC, or MD.
• Comfortable with computers and online tools.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs.
• Strong team orientation in a fast-paced setting.
• Excellent communication with clients and pets.
• Demonstrated passion for animals.

Responsibilities

• Triaging
• Recognize medical emergencies and illnesses
• Assessing patients
• Recording vitals and assisting doctors with diagnostics
• Completing treatments as instructed by the doctor
• Basic husbandry and nursing care
• Monitoring changes in patients and providing compassionate care
• Taking blood
• Placing catheters
• Assisting in radiography and lab work
• Preparing medications
• Administering medications
• Additional responsibilities to maintain a hospitable environment
