Job summary

Rocky Point Animal Hospital, part of Community Veterinary Partners, is seeking a licensed veterinary technician to join our team in Rocky Point, NY. You will work with veterinarians and support staff throughout the patient-care experience, from wellness visits to surgeries.

The ideal candidate holds an active LVT credential, has clinical veterinary hospital experience, and demonstrates strong technical and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Active LVT credential
• Experience in a veterinary hospital/clinical setting
• Strong technical and patient-care skills
• Ability to communicate effectively with veterinarians, coworkers, and pet owners
• Excellent attention to detail and follow-through
• dependable, team-oriented approach
• Comfort working in a busy environment with multiple priorities
• Willingness to participate in a rotating Saturday schedule
• Experience with Impromed and/or IDEXX is a plus

Responsibilities

• Support doctors during wellness visits, sick appointments, procedures, and surgeries
• Collect samples and perform in-house laboratory testing
• Drawing blood and obtaining diagnostic samples
• Taking and processing radiographs
• Administering medications, injections, and prescribed treatments
• Preparing surgical patients and assisting with recovery and post-operative monitoring
• Monitoring patients and communicating changes to the veterinary team
• Maintaining thorough and accurate patient records
• Providing clients with instructions regarding medications, nutrition, follow-up care, and treatment plans
• Safely handling and restraining patients while maintaining a calm, compassionate approach
• Helping keep treatment areas, equipment, and workspaces organized and ready for the day
