Job summary

Village Veterinary Medical Center in Farragut, Tennessee, seeks a Veterinary Technician to join Thrive Pet Healthcare. You will provide hands-on nursing care, assist veterinarians, manage patient monitoring, anesthesia support, diagnostics, and client education in a fast-paced hospital setting.

Qualifications

  • Veterinary technician licensure is required.
  • 1-2 years of clinical experience preferred.
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree from AVMA-accredited program preferred; or equivalent education/experience.
  • Strong attention to detail and time management.
  • Excellent interpersonal and client service skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide end-to-end patient care from check-in to recovery.
  • Assist veterinarians with exams, diagnostics, and treatments.
  • Monitor hospitalized patients with ongoing assessments.
  • Post-operative care and pain management.
  • Assist in surgery and anesthesia.
  • Perform venipuncture, run in-house diagnostics, radiographs.
  • Educate clients on treatments and preventive care.
  • Maintain medical records and infection control standards.

Your Experience & Skills
  • Veterinary technician licensure required
  • 1-2 years of clinical experience preferred
  • An Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree from an AVMA-accredited veterinary technology program preferred; or equivalent education and experience
  • Strong attention to detail with organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and client service skills
  • Positive attitude with a strong team-oriented mindset

Hospital Hours:

Monday-Friday: 7:30 AM - 6:00 PM

Saturday: 8:00 AM - 2:00 PM

What You’ll Do
  • As an LVT, you’ll be an essential part of our medical team, helping deliver outstanding care
  • from check-in to recovery:
  • Patient Care & Nursing
  • Provide compassionate, high-quality nursing care to patients
  • Assist veterinarians with exams, diagnostics, and treatments
  • Monitor hospitalized patients and provide ongoing assessment
  • Deliver post-operative care, including pain management
  • Surgery & Anesthesia
  • Prepare patients and surgical suites
  • Induce, monitor, and recover patients under anesthesia
  • Assist in surgical procedures and maintain sterile technique
  • Diagnostics & Procedures
  • Perform venipuncture and laboratory sample collection
  • Run in-house diagnostics (bloodwork, urinalysis, fecal testing, etc.)
  • Take and process radiographs
  • Perform dental cleanings and assist with dental procedures
  • Client Communication
  • Educate clients on treatments, medications, and preventive care
  • Obtain accurate patient histories and explain discharge instructions
  • Build trusting relationships with clients through clear, empathetic communication
  • Hospital Operations
  • Maintain accuracy in medical records and treatment plans
  • Ensure equipment is properly maintained and functioning
  • Uphold cleanliness and hospital infection control standards
  • Support team members and contribute to a positive work environment
  • Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and assist with larger patients
  • Comfortable standing, bending, and moving throughout the day
  • Ability to safely restrain animals of all sizes
  • Willingness to work in a clinical setting with exposure to odors, noise, and medical
  • materials

Compensation negotiable based on credentials and experience with a hourly pay

rate starting at $20 - $27/ hour. The actual rate offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
