Job summary

Heart + Paw in New York is seeking a Credentialed Veterinary Technician to join a team dedicated to high-quality pet care. You will assist veterinarians, manage samples and medications, and help with surgeries and diagnostics in a modern clinic.

Qualifications

• Licensed veterinary technician in the applicable state.
• 1–2 years of clinical veterinary experience preferred.
• Strong client communication and relationship-building skills.
• Physical stamina to lift 20+ lbs and work in a fast-paced setting.
• Interest in using technology to improve patient care and client experience.
• Fear Free and HABRI certifications are preferred or willingness to obtain them.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians with routine appointments, surgeries, and patient care.
• Collect and process diagnostic samples, administer medications, and prepare for surgeries.
• Record detailed patient histories and manage pharmaceutical inventories.
• Take and interpret radiographs, including dental X-rays, and perform ultrasonic dental cleanings.
• Monitor anesthesia, dress wounds, and assist with catheterization and ear flushes.
• Sterilize surgical instruments and maintain treatment areas.
• Educate clients on preventive care, dental hygiene, and nutrition.

What We’re Looking For:

• Licensure Required: Veterinary Technician licensure in this state
• Experience: 1–2 years of clinical experience preferred.
• Client-Centric Focus: Strong communication skills and a passion for building lasting relationships.
• Physical Stamina : Ability to lift 20+ lbs. and work in a fast-paced, sometimes emotionally demanding environment.
• Technological Savvy: Interest in using technology to improve veterinary care and client experience.
• Certifications (Preferred): Fear Free and HABRI certification or a willingness to achieve them.
• Collaborative Spirit: Highly adaptable and enthusiastic about team-based patient care.
