Who we are
At Irondequoit Animal Hospital, you'll experience the warmth and openness of a small clinic, with the support of a united network. Our ideal candidate is passionate about animal care, highly motivated, and attentive to detail. Our Veterinary Technicians are the heartbeat of our team, working alongside our Veterinarians (DVMs) during procedures. This full-time position requires working 30-40 hours per week, including a combination of day, evening, weekend, and holiday shifts.
Role Responsibilities:
- Support veterinarians to ensure quality veterinary care, advocate for pets, and educate clients. Assist with hospital functions to maximize productivity and maintain positive patient flow.
- Assist with surgeries and procedures in accordance with your state's Veterinary Practice Act outlined for credentialed veterinary technicians.
- Monitor and assess patient status.
- Collect blood and other samples for testing.
- Place catheters.
- Communicate with clients about pet health concerns and offer guidance on Thrive Membership options, medications, and treatments.
- Maintain comprehensive medical records with practice systems.
- Obtain health history and information from clients, and maintain medical charts.
- Use safe restraining techniques, follow protocols, and keep treatment areas clean and organized.
- Support and mentor fellow team members.
Experience & Skills Requirements:
- Veterinary technician licensure required.
- 1-2 years of clinical experience preferred.
- An Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree from an AVMA-accredited veterinary technology program is preferred, or equivalent education, training, and experience.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, and stand, squat, reach, and walk throughout the day.

Compensation is negotiable based on credentials and experience, with an hourly pay range starting at $20-25/hour. The actual rate will consider your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
