Job summary

AmeriVet's Animal Emergency Hospital in Burton, MI is seeking a licensed veterinary technician to join a fast-paced emergency team. You will provide advanced patient care, monitor anesthesia, perform blood draws, and support veterinarians.

Competitive pay starts at $26 per hour with up to $5 per hour shift differential, plus a $5,000 sign-on bonus, comprehensive benefits, and a strong commitment to learning and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Active Michigan LVT license required.
• Minimum 2 years as LVT or 5 years as veterinary assistant if newly licensed.
• Comfortable in-patient care and customer service.
• Strong attention to detail and medical math skills.
• Calm under pressure with a team-first mindset.

Responsibilities

• Place IV catheters and monitor anesthesia in critical cases.
• Monitor patient vitals and provide bedside care.
• Draw blood and perform diagnostics as needed.
• Perform medical math and dosage calculations accurately.
• Administer and monitor blood transfusions.
• Rotate on-call overnights, weekends, and holidays.

What You'll Be Doing

• Placement of IV catheters
• Monitoring anesthesia and patient vitals on critically ill patients
• Drawing blood and running diagnostics
• Critical thinking in fast-paced emergency situations
• Administering and monitoring blood transfusions
• Managing feeding tubes and critically ill patients
• Performing accurate medical math and medication calculations

What We're Looking For

• Active License for Veterinary Technician in the state of Michigan
• Minimum of 2 years' experience as an LVT or minimum of 5 years as a veterinary assistant if newly licensed
• Comfortable and confident in-patient care and customer service
• Strong attention to detail and excellent medical math skills
• Calm under pressure with a team-first mindset
• Willingness to rotate overnights, weekends, and holidays
