Job summary

Dutchess County SPCA, Inc. seeks a Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) in Hyde Park, NY to support veterinarians in exams, surgeries and medical procedures. You will assist with anesthesia, diagnostics, and post-operative care for shelter and public patients.

Requirements include NYS licensure, 2–3 years in a veterinary or shelter setting, and strong communication skills. The role is full-time with on-site responsibilities at our Hyde Park facility.

Qualifications

• Must be a Licensed Veterinary Technician in New York State.
• 2-3 years of experience in a Veterinary or Shelter Clinic preferred.
• 2-3 years of High Quality-High Volume Spay Neuter experience preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; collaborative team player.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians in examinations, surgeries and medical procedures.
• Administer medications, vaccinations, and treatments as prescribed.
• Perform diagnostic tests (blood work, x-rays) and prepare samples for lab analysis.
• Monitor health and behavior of animals and report changes to Veterinarian.
• Change animal bandages, bedding, and kennel materials; maintain cleanliness.
• Provide anesthesia support including pre-meds, induction, monitoring and post-op care.
• Assist with post-operative care and pain management; provide vitals monitoring.
• Record and maintain accurate medical records for shelter and community animals.
