Job summary

Woodlake Animal Hospital in Midlothian, Virginia is seeking a Licensed Veterinary Technician to join our integrative and preventative care team. The role supports veterinarians and the medical staff to deliver high-quality care to companion animals and educate clients.

The successful candidate will perform nursing duties, surgical support, labs, imaging, and client communication while upholding safety and hospital standards in our AAHA-accredited, high-touch practice.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Licensed/Certified/Registered Veterinary Technician credential is required.
• Proficiency in anesthesia monitoring, venipuncture, laboratory procedures, radiology, and dentistry is essential.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to hospitalized patients including IV catheter placement, CRI management, medication administration, and monitoring.
• Prepare, monitor, and recover patients undergoing surgical procedures with emphasis on safety and comfort.
• Assist veterinarians during examinations, diagnostics, treatments, and surgeries with proper restraint and monitoring.
• Perform laboratory diagnostics (urinalysis, hematology, fecals, cytology) and document results clearly.
• Operate and maintain diagnostic equipment including radiology and ultrasound systems in compliance with safety standards.
• Prepare and administer medications, vaccines, and treatments per regulations and hospital policies.
• Maintain accurate daily controlled drug logs and proper handling of substances.
• Create and enter treatment plans in medical records and document charges and audits.
• Provide clear client education on preventive care, treatments, medications, and nutrition.
