Job summary

City of Detroit's Department of Public Works seeks an Engineer of Structures to oversee the inspection, design and construction of bridges and structures, and to maintain related records in the MiBridge system.

The role requires a Civil/Structural Engineering degree, five years' progressive experience with at least two in supervision and field inspection, plus MDOT project engineering exposure and a Michigan Professional Engineer license.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil/structural engineering.
• Five (5) years of progressive experience in design and construction of bridges and structures; two years in supervision and include surveying and field inspection.
• MDOT Project Engineering experience on multiple projects including bridges, retaining walls, ADA ramps.

Responsibilities

• Supervise a group of engineers and drafters.
• Assign, inspect, and monitor work in progress and upon completion.
• Ensure proper inspection procedures for bridges and structures; maintain reports in MiBridge.
• Maintain current load ratings for all city bridges.
• Prepare plans and specifications for rehabilitation, repair and replacement of bridges and structures.
