Job summary

USVETS Orange County is seeking a Licensed Therapist to provide a range of psychosocial services for Veterans and service members experiencing homelessness. You will offer individual and group therapy, clinical assessments, and crisis interventions within a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities include treatment planning, maintaining confidential records, and coordinating with VA and community clinicians. A Master’s degree and state licensure are required; Medicaid experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Psychology, Counseling, or a related field.
• Independent professional licensure in the state where the site is located.
• Experience with Medicaid approved assessments and Medicaid billing preferred.
• Knowledge of veterans and homeless populations preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical therapeutic services to veterans.
• Deliver individual and group therapy using evidence-based therapies.
• Develop initial and ongoing client treatment plans.
• Maintain confidential and complete client records.
• Coordinate client services with the VA and community clinicians.
• Oversee curricula for Clinical Treatment modality groups (substance use and mental health).
• Ensure compliance with licensure requirements and grant requirements.
• Maintain office hours and a therapeutic environment.

Licensed TherapistThe Licensed Therapist reports directly to the Director of Behavioral Health and is responsible for providing a range of psychosocial services including community outreach, counseling (individual and group), and referral services as part of a multidisciplinary team for Veterans and service members who are experiencing homelessness.FLSA Classification: ExemptResponsibilitiesProvides clinical therapeutic services (i.e., engages, interviews, assesses, counsels, and educates) to veteransProvides individual and group therapy to clients using evidence-based therapies, practices, and protocolsEstablishes and maintains a professional therapeutic relationship with all clients and potential clientsDevelops initial and ongoing client treatment plansProvides direct clinical intervention services and crisis intervention services to clients in needMaintains confidential and complete client records to include electronic records managementTransitions clients from the therapeutic relationship using clinically-based protocols.Coordinates and collaborates client services with the VA and other community clinicians as appropriateOversees curricula for all Clinical Treatment modality groups (substance abuse and mental health)Follows proper clinical protocols on client referrals for needed servicesIn conjunction with the Clinical Director is responsible for implementing and maintaining a therapeutic living environment at the siteEnsures adherence to clinically-based protocolsMaintains office hours that are conducive to client needs, and an office environment that is conducive to therapeutic effectivenessEnsures programmatic compliance with all State licensure requirements.Ensures that all services are provided per grant requirementsPerforms other duties as requiredRequirementsA Master's degree in Psychology, Counseling, or a related human services fieldIndependent professional licensure in the state where site is located which includes meeting state requirements for conducting Alcohol and Drug Counseling in the state and/or an additional license/certification in Alcohol and Drug CounselingExperience in Medicaid approved assessments and Medicaid billing procedures (preferred)Broad knowledge of and two years direct clinical experience using evidenced-based therapies, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, Seeking Safety, and Trauma Informed Care.Flexibility in schedulingValid driver’s license required.
