Job summary

MasTec Power Delivery is seeking a Licensed Surveyor to support major transmission line and substation projects nationwide. The role provides professional surveying expertise throughout the project lifecycle, including pre-construction, construction, quality control, and closeout.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of surveying experience in utility or heavy civil construction, with proficiency in GNSS/GPS, AutoCAD/Civil 3D, and Trimble software. Travel and field work are required.

Qualifications

• Active PLS/PS license; ability to obtain additional licenses as required.
• 5+ years of professional surveying in transmission/substation/utility/heavy civil construction.
• Strong knowledge of survey control, coordinate systems, and datums.
• Experience interpreting civil, structural, and electrical drawings.
• Proficiency with GNSS/GPS, robotic total stations, data collectors, and survey software.
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD/Civil 3D, Trimble Business Center or similar platforms.
• Strong communication, leadership, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and with project teams; willingness to travel.

Responsibilities

• Provide surveying services for major transmission and substation projects.
• Establish and maintain project survey control and benchmarks.
• Perform boundary, topographic, construction, layout, and as-built surveys.
• Provide construction layout for structures and facilities.
• Verify activities against plans and specs.
• Conduct quality-control checks and resolve discrepancies.
• Review survey data, calculations, and drawings.
• Lead survey crews, subcontractors, and third-party firms.
• Support engineering and construction teams with survey guidance.
• Maintain accurate survey records and deliverables.
• Promote safe surveying practices on active sites.
