Job summary

Marx Okubo Associates, Inc. in Southern California (Huntington Beach or Pasadena) seeks an Associate-level Structural Engineer to join our team.

The role involves acting as technical team member and small project lead for commercial structures, with travel to sites as needed and a hybrid schedule with 2 days in the office. Candidates should have a CA PE, a civil/structural engineering degree, at least five years of experience, and strong knowledge of CBC, ASCE-7, and seismic design.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil/structural engineering.
• California PE license required; five+ years in structural consulting.
• Knowledge of CBC, ASCE-7, ACI, and AISC.
• Ability to lead projects and manage deadlines.
• Proficient with Bluebeam and MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Serve as technical team member and small project lead for commercial structures.
• Collaborate with clients, internal teams, consultants, and site contact.
• Review existing building construction and condition.
• Analyze construction documents, including structural calculations.
• Perform seismic risk and property condition assessments.
• Prepare and present detailed reports.
• Perform structural analysis and create repair/seismic retrofit details.
• Assist with forensic investigations by analyzing defects and codes.
