Job summary

Marx Okubo is seeking an Associate Structural Engineer in Southern California (Huntington Beach or Pasadena) on a hybrid schedule. The role involves leading technical work for commercial structures, collaboration with clients and internal teams, and delivering assessments and reports.

Candidates should have a CA PE license, a civil/structural engineering degree, and 5+ years of relevant experience. The expected starting salary range is $120,000–$135,000 with discretionary bonuses, and travel to

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil/structural engineering.
• Licensed PE in California.
• Minimum five (5) years of industry-related experience at a structural engineering consulting firm.
• Knowledge of CBC, ASCE-7, ACI, and AISC.
• Ability to work under deadlines in a fast-paced environment and lead projects.
• Proficiency in Bluebeam and Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Act as technical team member and small project lead for clients' commercial structures.
• Collaborate with clients, internal team, consultants, and site contacts, and understand the project scope.
• Review and assess existing building construction and condition.
• Review and analyze construction documents including structural calculations, drawings, and specifications.
• Perform seismic risk and property condition assessments.
• Prepare and present detailed formal reports.
• Perform structural analysis and create details for small-scale repairs and seismic retrofit.
• Assist with forensic structural investigations and code compliance.
