Job summary

DuPage County is seeking a Stationary Engineer to operate, maintain and repair power plant, tunnel, and County facilities across multiple sites in Illinois. The position features a shift differential and requires adherence to union guidelines under IUOE Local 399.

The candidate must have four years of licensed stationary engineer experience, a high school diploma or GED, and a valid Illinois driver’s license.

Qualifications

Licensed Stationary Engineer with required license and experience.
Four years of experience operating, repairing and maintaining high-pressure equipment.
Post-offer physical and pre-employment background checks required.
Valid Illinois driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

Operates, maintains and repairs power plant, tunnel, and county facilities and related equipment.
Performs preventive maintenance and emergency work orders.
Maintains records and inventories; reads gauges and adjusts systems to ensure proper operation.
Responds to environmental requests and notifies staff of emergencies.
Installs and maintains controls for HVAC and related equipment.
Power plant assignments on a rotating basis for coverage.
