Job summary

City of Hope is hiring a Licensed Stationary Engineer to operate and maintain campus boiler and chiller systems in Duarte, CA. The role requires five years of relevant experience and a valid LA County Unlimited Steam Engineer License, plus a CA driver’s license. Weekend and swing shifts are expected.

• Two years post High School Trade, Business or Professional school completed.
• Five years in operation & maintenance of high-pressure gas-fired boilers, chillers & associated equipment including emergency generators.
• Valid LA County Unlimited Steam Engineer License.
• Current CA driver's license and a good driving record for insurance purposes.

Responsibilities

• Operate auxiliary equipment and controls the generation of a continuous supply of steam for heating, hot water, and process operations.
• Operate and monitor chillers and chilled water loop throughout the campus.
• Perform service and preventive maintenance on all chillers, circulating pumps, control valves, etc.
• Prepare boilers and related equipment for state and insurance inspections.
• Monitor and operate the chilled water storage system in all phases.
• Perform tests on water samples to determine and calculate proper chemical dosage for boiler and chiller system.
• Oversee all utility distribution on campus.
• Restore electrical services in case of any power outage.
• Monitor and respond to energy management system.
• Maintain accurate daily record of plant operation noting any change, in any central plant machinery, utility service, or any clerical system throughout the campus.
