Job summary

City of Hope is hiring a Licensed Stationary Engineer to operate and maintain steam boilers and chillers across its Southern California campuses. The role includes monitoring energy systems, ensuring compliance for inspections, and overseeing campus utility distribution.

Requirements include a CA Steam Engineer license, five years of experience with high-pressure gas-fired boilers and chillers, plus a valid CA driver's license. Weekend shifts and day shifts are required as part of the schedule.

Qualifications

• Two years post high school trade, business, or professional school.
• Five years in operation & maintenance of high-pressure gas-fired boilers, chillers & associated equipment incl. emergency generators.
• Valid LA County Unlimited Steam Engineer License.
• Current CA driver’s license with a good driving record for insurance purposes.

Responsibilities

• Operate auxiliary equipment and controls the generation of a continuous supply of steam for heating, hot water, and process operations.
• Operate and monitor chillers and chilled water loop throughout the campus.
• Perform service and preventive maintenance on all chillers, circulating pumps, control valves, etc.
• Prepare boilers and related equipment for state and insurance inspections.
• Monitor and operate the chilled water storage system in all phases.
• Perform tests on water samples to determine and calculate proper chemical dosage for boiler and chiller system.
• Oversee all utility distribution on campus.
• Restore electrical services in case of any power outage.
• Monitor and respond to energy management system.
• Maintain accurate daily record of plant operation noting any change, in any central plant machinery, utility service, or any clerical system throughout the campus.
