Job summary

City of Hope is hiring an experienced HVAC Facilities Mechanic for evening shift in California. You will perform routine and preventive maintenance on building HVAC systems, assist in BMS monitoring, and support patient care areas and labs with timely service requests.

Requirements include a High School Diploma (College/Trade preferred), 3+ years crafts experience, and certifications in 2+ trades. Valid CA driver's license and strong communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• HVAC experience in healthcare, commercial, or industrial settings.
• 3+ years crafts experience.
• Certification or proficiency in 2+ trades (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, etc.).
• Excellent communication with clinical staff, leaders, and vendors.
• Valid CA driver's license and good driving record.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and preventive maintenance on building HVAC systems and components.
• Adjust temperature controls and assist in BMS monitoring.
• Document work in the CMMS/Nuvolo system with accuracy and timeliness.
• Inspect and repair air handlers, VAV boxes, exhaust fans, and chilled water systems.
• Perform filter changes, belt and bearing replacements, coil cleaning.
• Support OR pressurization and isolation rooms, comfort control issues.
• Respond to service requests for patient care areas and labs.
• Troubleshoot and repair pumps, motors, lighting, doors, and minor mechanical systems.
• Complete scheduled PM tasks and assist in shutdowns and reconfigurations.

Evening shift typically works from 2:00 pm to 10:30 pm. Weekend availability is required.

City of Hope is seeking an experienced HVAC Facilities Mechanic with background in healthcare, commercial, and/or industrial settings. The facilities department ensures systems are running smoothly to take care of our patients and staff.

As a successful candidate, you will:

• Perform routine and preventive maintenanceon building HVAC systems & components.
• Adjust temperature controlsand assist in BMS monitoringunder direction of Level 3 or supervisor.
• Document work in the CMMS/Nuvolo system, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Inspect, maintain, and repair air handlers, VAV boxes, exhaust fans, and chilled water systems.
• Perform filter changes, belt and bearing replacements, coil cleaning.
• Support OR pressurization, isolation rooms, and comfort controlissues.
• Respond to service requests and work ordersfor patient care areas, labs, and support departments.
• Conduct basic troubleshooting and repairs of pumps, motors, lighting, fixtures, doors, and minor mechanical systems.
• Complete scheduled PM tasks(lubrication, filter changes, belt replacements, inspections).
• Assist senior staff in shutdowns, isolations, and system reconfigurations.

Your qualifications should include:

• High School Diploma. 4 additional years of experience plus the minimum experience requirement may substitute for minimum education (College or Trade school preferred).
• HVAC experience working in healthcare, commercial, or industrial settings
• 3 or more years crafts experience.
• Certification or demonstrated proficiency in 2 or more of the following trades: HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, automotive mechanics, autoclave or locksmith.
• Excellent communications skills in working with clinical staff, leaders, and vendors.
• Current CA driver's license and a good driving record.
