Job summary

Deep Fission is seeking a Licensed Reactor Operator to enter training, earn licensure, and stand watch with final authority on shift. You will progress from DOE qualification to NRC licensing in a two-phase sequence and help write procedures while the plant is being defined and licensed.

As the licensed operator on shift, you will perform direct control room functions, manage reactor startups and shutdowns, and participate in emergency drills. Relocation to Parsons, KS is supported as needed.

Qualifications

• Hold or have held an NRC Reactor Operator or Senior Reactor Operator license with at least 1 year of licensed operating experience.
• Military reactor experience: 18+ months post-qualification in a reactor position equal to Reactor Operator or Supervisor.
• SRO instructor: NRC SRO Instructor cert with 4+ years at a comparable facility or 6 years at a non-comparable facility.

Responsibilities

• Complete all phases of the initial operator training program, including classroom, simulator, and on-the-job supervised watch standing.
• Pass the written exam with at least 80% and pass the Qualification Board.
• Obtain initial DOE qualification and progress to NRC operator licensing.
• Serve as on-shift lead with final authority on reactor operations decisions.
• Perform direct control room functions during startups, power changes, and shutdowns.
• Declare Emergency Action Levels and make required notifications.
• Apply Technical Specifications and Limiting Conditions of Operation.
• Maintain reactivity management, including shutdown margin and boron control.
• Exercise stop-work authority when safety requires it.
• Participate in emergency drills and take on outages or coverage as needed.
• Contribute to design reviews, write and validate procedures, and help develop the training program.
