Job summary

HAN Staff is seeking a Licensed Psychiatric Technician in San Luis Obispo, CA for a 13-week contract. The role runs Wed-Sun, 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM, and offers a W2 arrangement with a $50/hour pay rate.

Responsibilities include basic nursing care, monitoring patient status, med administration, and crisis intervention in a correctional healthcare setting. Minimum CA license, 1 year of LPT experience, PSV copy, and required certifications (BLS, immunizations, TB) are required.

Qualifications

• Current, valid, and unrestricted CA license/certification in good standing, as required for the position.
• Minimum of 1 year of recent experience as a Licensed Psychiatric Technician.
• Copy of Primary Source Verification (PSV) from the appropriate licensing board or verification agency, if required.
• Copy of all current required certifications and compliance documents (BLS, N95 fit test, etc.).

Responsibilities

• Provide basic nursing care to patients with mental health conditions.
• Monitor patient behavior, mood, and vital signs.
• Assist with daily living activities (hygiene, meals, mobility).
• Administer medications as directed and within scope of practice.
• Support patients during therapy and treatment activities.
• Report changes in patient condition to nurses or physicians.
• Maintain patient safety and prevent self-harm or injury.
• Document patient care and observations.
• Assist in crisis intervention and de-escalation.
• Follow treatment plans and facility protocols.
