Job summary

Florida Rural Water Association (FRWA) seeks a Professional Engineer (PE) to provide technical and engineering assistance to rural and small water and wastewater systems across Florida.

The role involves support related to water and wastewater operations, maintenance, compliance, permitting, water quality, infrastructure, grants and loans, and other technical and environmental matters, with extensive statewide travel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil or environmental engineering with water and wastewater experience.
• Valid Florida Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain within 12 months of hire.
• Ability to travel extensively throughout Florida.
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and effectively as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical and engineering assistance to rural and small water and wastewater systems throughout Florida.
• Support related to water and wastewater operations, maintenance, compliance, permitting, water quality, infrastructure, grants and loans, and other technical/environmental matters.
• Work closely with FRWA staff, utilities, and local/state/federal agencies.
• Extensive statewide travel and potential overnight travel and emergency response deployments during active events.

Job description

Florida Rural Water Association (FRWA) is seeking a Professional Engineer (PE) to provide technical and engineering assistance to rural and small water and wastewater systems throughout Florida.

The position will provide support related to water and wastewater operations, maintenance, compliance, permitting, water quality, infrastructure, grants and loans, management, and other technical and environmental matters. The position will work closely with FRWA staff, utilities, and local, state, and federal agencies.

The ideal candidate will have strong critical-thinking, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team. This position requires extensive statewide travel and may include overnight travel and emergency response deployments during active events.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Environmental Engineering, or another engineering discipline with water and wastewater experience.
• Valid Florida Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain Florida licensure within 12 months of hire.
• Ability to travel extensively throughout Florida.
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and effectively as part of a team.
