Job Overview

Licensed Professional Counselor (temporary, part‑time) – 32 hours a week on a variable schedule. Position at Providence Portland Medical Center, Portland, OR. Under clinical supervision, responsible for evaluating, diagnosing, and treating psychiatric and substance use disorders.

Responsibilities

• Provide individualized psychotherapy utilizing evidence‑based modalities such as cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, dialectical behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, and the recovery model.
• Conduct risk assessments related to self‑harm and harm to others, and develop and implement risk‑mitigation plans to ensure patient and community safety.
• Deliver group and family therapy sessions; participate in multi‑modal treatment settings.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary care teams in the Adult Inpatient Psychiatric Unit.
• Contribute to safety planning and milieu management.

Required Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Counseling, Counseling Psychology, or related field.
• Oregon Professional Counselor License upon hire.
• Clinical supervision under a board‑qualified supervisor certified by the Oregon State Board of Licensed Professional Counselors and Therapists.

Preferred Qualifications

• Minimum one year of master’s‑level practicum in a behavioral health setting via an accredited college or university internship.
• Additional experience in a substance‑use treatment setting.

Location & Compensation

Providence Portland Medical Center – Portland, OR (4805 NE Glisan St). Pay range: $41.63 – $64.63 per hour. Additional compensation may be available through shift differentials, standby/on‑call, overtime, premiums, or bonuses.
