Job Title: Licensed Professional Counselor - Telehealth/Remote

We are dedicated to providing compassionate, client-centered care to individuals, families, children and adolescents in our community. Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Connecticut based Counselor (LPC, LPC-A) to join our team. The ideal candidate will be dual-qualified (LPC/LPC-A and ATR-P/ATR/ATR-BC) and possess strong capabilities in both traditional counseling and art therapy modalities. This role involves providing therapeutic services to diverse clients, conducting assessments, developing treatment plans, and facilitating individual and/or group therapy sessions. A key focus of this position will be working with clients who have experienced trauma, utilizing trauma-informed approaches within both talk therapy and art therapy frameworks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive clinical assessments and formulate diagnoses using DSM-5/ICD-10 criteria.
  • Develop and implement individualized, client-centered treatment plans incorporating both verbal counseling techniques and art therapy interventions.
  • Provide individual and potentially group therapy sessions integrating evidence-based counseling practices (e.g., CBT, DBT, psychodynamic) and art therapy directives.
  • Utilize creative processes (drawing, painting, sculpture, etc.) to help clients explore emotions, reduce anxiety, improve self-esteem, process trauma, and enhance coping skills.
  • Apply trauma-informed principles and techniques throughout all aspects of clinical care.
  • Maintain timely and accurate clinical documentation in compliance with ethical standards and legal requirements (e.g., progress notes, treatment plans, discharge summaries).
  • Collaborate with other professionals (e.g., psychiatrists, school staff, primary care physicians) as needed for coordinated client care, with appropriate client consent.
  • Participate in clinical supervision and/or team meetings.
  • Adhere to all ethical guidelines set forth by relevant licensing boards (e.g., CT DPH, ATCB) and professional organizations (e.g., ACA, AATA).
  • Maintain a caseload of at least 20 clients.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development related to counseling, art therapy, and trauma treatment.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Art Therapy, or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
  • Current, active, and unrestricted license to practice independently in Connecticut (e.g., LPC, LCSW, LMFT) OR license-eligible (e.g., LPC-A, ATR-P).
  • Demonstrated competence in providing both verbal counseling and art therapy services.
  • Excellent clinical assessment, treatment planning, and documentation skills.
  • Strong understanding of ethical and legal standards in mental health care.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Technology Requirements: Reliable internet connection, suitable computer/device, and a private space for sessions and documentation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Significant experience and/or specialized training in trauma-informed care and evidence-based trauma treatment modalities (e.g., EMDR, TF-CBT, CPT, Somatic Experiencing, ARC).
  • Minimum of 2+ years of post-graduate clinical experience.
  • Experience providing therapy to children, adolescents, adults with complex trauma.
  • Experience facilitating group therapy sessions.
  • Credentialed Art Therapist (ATR or ATR-BC) through the Art Therapy Credentials Board (ATCB) OR actively pursuing ATR credentialing (ATR-P).
  • Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems and documentation.
  • Compensation Range:
  • $52,000-$104,000 per year (full-time)
  • $15,600-$41,600 per year (part-time)
  • General Description of Benefits & Other Compensation:

Benefits for qualifying employees are currently being established as we build our team and are anticipated to include: Health insurance options, paid time off (vacation, sick leave), eligibility for retirement benefits. Specific details regarding eligibility and plan options will be provided as they are finalized and upon extension of an offer. Professional liability insurance coverage, administration support/scheduling, client referrals, support with insurance credentialing and opportunities for one to one and group clinical supervision towards licensure will be provided to all staff.
