Associated-Recreation-Council in Seattle is hiring a Licensed Preschool Assistant Teacher to support the lead teacher delivering daily curriculum for children aged 3–5. The role requires supervising the classroom and helping implement activities in a safe, nurturing environment.

Candidates should have a High School Diploma, an associate degree or higher in ECE or MERIT-approved credits, and DCYF preservice qualifications.

Qualifications

• Must have High School Diploma (minimum hiring requirement).
• Seattle Preschool Programs requires an associate degree or higher verified as 'approved' in MERIT (by Fall 2026).
• At least 20 approved ECE quarter credits verified through MERIT (up to 10 may be ECE-School Age hybrid credits).
• 1 year of experience with children ages 3-5 in a preschool setting.
• 1 year of experience supporting and implementing curriculum activities for a large group of children.
• Certification: DCYF Preservice Requirements and General Staff Qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Support the lead teacher in delivering and implementing daily curriculum activities for children ages 3–5.
• Maintain a safe and nurturing environment by actively supervising children and assisting with classroom management.
• Facilitate learning activities and support social-emotional development through play and structured lessons.
• Collaborate with preschool staff to prepare materials, set up activities, and participate in classroom events.
• Maintain a staff-to-child ratio of 1:10 to ensure the safety, supervision, and well-being of all children.
• Report directly to the Licensed Preschool Director for guidance and support.
