Job summary

Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs' Wisconsin Veterans Home at Union Grove (WVHUG) is recruiting Licensed Practical Nurses to join our dedicated Nursing team serving elderly and disabled veterans and their spouses in Racine County.

Starting pay is $30.01–$38.59 per hour with shift differentials and a $3,000 sign-on bonus for eligible new hires who stay through probation; positions include 60%, 80%, and 100% FTE and require a TB skin test and background check.

Qualifications

• Current licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse in Wisconsin or NL Compact state, or eligibility for licensure prior to hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide routine direct and indirect patient care for geriatric and/or disabled veterans and spouses.
• Perform personal cares, treatments, medication administration and documentation.
• Gather patient data (blood pressures, pulses, accu checks) and monitor vital signs.
• Participate in indirect care management and collaborate with families and interdisciplinary team.

The Wisconsin Veterans Home at Union Grove (WVHUG) is recruiting for multiple Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) positions, to join our dedicated Nursing team. The Home is a 24/7/365 long-term care facility that specializes in providing comfort, support, and professional healthcare services to elderly or disabled veterans and their spouses. Our facility is in Racine County, a short drive from Milwaukee, Racine, Kenosha, and other key locations in southeastern Wisconsin.

Sign-On Bonus of $3,000 for eligible employees who agree to remain in the position for one year. The first $1,500 will be paid in the employee's first paycheck and the second $1,500 will be paid when the employee attains permanent status.

Position Summary

Our LPNs are responsible for providing quality, routine, direct and indirect patient care for geriatric and/or disabled members of WVHUG. Examples of duties performed include: making critical observations of members; performing personal cares, treatments, medication administration and documentation; gathering patient data (e.g., blood pressures, pulses, accu checks); participating in the management of indirect care and maintenance of the care unit; assisting with complex cares situations; working directly with families; and, working with an interdisciplinary team.

Starting wage is between $30.01 and $38.59 per hour, depending on years of professional experience, with additional compensation for nights, weekends, holidays and overtime. Positions at 60% of full-time or greater are eligible for an attractive benefit package.

A sign-on bonus of $3000 for eligible new hires with no prior state service in the last five years, who stay with the facility in the position until completing probation. The bonus will be split, $1,500 upon hire and $1,500 after completing probation.

Licensed Practical Nurse is in pay schedule-pay range 06-05.Pay will be set in accordance with the State of Wisconsin Compensation Plan in effect at the time of hire. Starting pay for current State employees may vary based on applicable provisions in the Compensation Plan.

This position is not represented by a bargaining unit.

Hiring for: One PM 60% FTE (Part-Time), One PM 80% FTE (Part-Time), and One PM 1.0 FTE (Full-Time)

Our LPN positions work multiple shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.

Job duties require the ability to move, reposition and transport patients, stand and/or walk up to 75% of eight-hour day to provide assessments, sit, kneel, stoop, make visual observations, lift, push, pull, carry, reach, maintain hygiene, use special safety equipment, and wear protective clothing.

Employment in this position is contingent upon passing a pre-employment tuberculosis (TB) skin test.

Due to the nature of the positions, WDVA will conduct a criminal background check prior to an offer of employment.

A 12-month probationary period may be required.

Being eligible for a licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of Wisconsin or a Nurse Licensure Compact state prior to hire.
