Job summary

Qualifications

• This position requires active authorization to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse in Pennsylvania.
• If you possess an active temporary practice permit, you must obtain licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse within one year.
• PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
• Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
• If you are within 60 days of completing a PA-approved nursing program, you are eligible to apply; show proof of PA license or temporary permit at appointment.
• You must be able to perform essential job functions.

This position focuses on delivering nursing care, supporting daily health needs, and assisting clinical staff within the facility. The role ensures that medical services are carried out safely, accurately, and in accordance with standards. As a Licensed Practical Nurse, you will perform the following duties:

• Nursing Care: Implement care plans by taking vital signs, administering medications, and performing treatments
• Health Monitoring: Observe physical and emotional behaviors and report concerns to clinical staff
• Emergency Response: Provide first aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), or automated external defibrillator (AED) support when urgent medical conditions arise
• Record Maintenance: Document medication administration, treatments, and health information in electronic records
• Supply Management: Sterilize instruments and maintain inventory of medical supplies and equipment
• Team Communication: Share necessary information with staff to support safe and continuous patient care

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
• The Department of Corrections is staffed by 3 work shifts that cover the facility 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
  • 1st shift: 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM; 2nd shift: 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM; and 3rd shift: 10:00 PM to 6:30 AM
  • Alternative work schedules may be available, depending on operational needs.
• Work hours are to be determined
• This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
• Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

QUALIFICATIONS

Special Requirements:
