The Licensed Practical Nurse's primary role is to provide nursing care for patients with common, well-defined health problems. The LPN works as part of a multidisciplinary team, implementing patient care using the nursing process under the supervision of a registered nurse, and making safe, appropriate decisions within the scope of practice, following all regulatory and institutional standards.

Essential Functions:

1. Delivers quality nursing care, collects data, and identifies deviations from normal, assisting with patient reassessment as needed.
2. Documents findings thoroughly and communicates assessment data effectively with healthcare team members.
3. Implements nursing interventions per the multidisciplinary plan, performs procedures as prescribed, and provides bedside care.
4. Conducts bedside lab tests, wound care, and assists with activities of daily living.
5. Supports patients’ coping and adaptation to illness and stressors.
6. Provides age-appropriate, culturally sensitive communication and interventions, documenting needs accordingly.
7. Administers medications safely, assesses patients pre- and post-administration, and educates patients about their medications.
8. Follows up on care responsibilities, communicates with team members, and ensures continuity of care.
9. Utilizes nursing knowledge and resources to improve evidence-based practices.
10. Provides leadership and guidance as a preceptor to new staff, performing other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• Current, valid license to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the state of employment; Compact licenses accepted.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• One year of inpatient hospital experience preferred.
• Ability to work in high-stress environments, communicate effectively, and serve diverse populations.
• Must complete CPR certification and a behavioral health de-escalation program approved by Oceans.

This role involves working indoors most of the time, with potential exposure to odors, sights, and unpredictable behaviors. The environment can be high-paced and stressful, requiring mental and physical resilience.
