Employee Role:

Private Duty Nurse (PDN) - LPN or RN

The PDN is part of the client care team, providing skilled nursing services directly or through a placement agency in clients' residences, under the supervision of the Clinical Manager.

Reporting To:

Clinical Manager

Wage/Hour Classification:

Non-exempt

Schedule:

Monday to Friday, 7 AM to 5 PM

Essential Responsibilities:

• Evaluate and treat clients with appropriate skills under supervision.
• Assist with continuity of care and emotional support for clients and families.
• Meet psychosocial needs of clients.
• Communicate client rights and responsibilities.
• Make sound nursing judgments.
• Recognize and respond appropriately to emergencies.
• Manage client services properly.
• Use equipment competently.
• Communicate client care information per agency policies.
• Observe and report changes in client conditions.
• Document communication with clients, families, and providers timely for continuity of care.
• Build relationships to encourage compliance and safety.
• Maintain accurate documentation and update systems promptly.
• Ensure high customer service standards and satisfaction.
• Follow infection control and safety policies.
• Participate in community outreach and staff development.
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

ADA Requirements:

• Ability to sit, stand, walk, and climb as needed.
• Use hands for tasks, reach overhead or beyond mid-line.
• Vision abilities include close, distance, peripheral, and depth perception.
• Use universal safety precautions.
• Lift, push, pull, or carry at least 25 pounds.
• Stoop and bend up to 2.5 hours per shift.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Graduate of an accredited nursing school.
• Licensed as an LPN or RN by the North Carolina Board of Nursing, in good standing.
• Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.
• At least one year of home care experience; additional hospital experience preferred.
• Availability for varied hours, full-time at minimum 30 hours/week.
• Strong communication skills; bilingual preferred.
