Job summary

The New York State Department of Health is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse to provide direct patient care under the supervision of an RN. The role includes administering medications, observing residents, recording vital signs, and collecting specimens for analysis.

You will also assist with dressing changes, hygiene, and daily living tasks to ensure resident well-being. Preferred candidates have long-term care experience and hold a current NYS LPN license.

Minimum Qualifications

Reassignment: Current New York State Department of Health Veterans Home at St. Albans employee with permanent or contingent permanent status as a Licensed Practical Nurse.

Current New York State employee with one or more years of permanent, contingent-permanent, or 55 b/c service in a position allocated to Grade 8 or above, and eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law to Licensed Practical Nurse

A license and current registration to practice as a practical nurse in New York State; OR a limited permit to practice as a practical nurse in New York State; OR an application on file for a limited permit to practice as a practical nurse in New York State.

Preferred Qualifications: Preference will be given to candidates with long-term care Facility experience.

Posted salary range ($67,933 - $72,322) includes statutory hiring rate at step 4 and job rate for grade 10, plus a geographic pay differential of $13,000 in addition to $4,000 of Downstate Adjustment.

If applicable, the inconvenience pay program of $575 per year will be paid to employees who work four (4) hours or more between 6:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. Hours worked between 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. on an overtime basis are not included for Inconvenience Pay.

This position is part of the NYS HELPS program. No examination is required.
