Job summary

Jefferson Regional Specialty Hospital is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for our inpatient rehabilitation unit. You will work full-time days, providing skilled nursing care to patients recovering from stroke, orthopedic, neurological, and other conditions, while collaborating with an interdisciplinary team to support rehab goals.

The role emphasizes safe medication administration, assessments, patient education, and contributing to care plans.

Qualifications

• Current LPN license for the state (or compact state).
• Six months of Medical/Surgical experience preferred in acute care.
• Graduate of an accredited LPN program; Associate's degree required.

Responsibilities

• Administer medications safely, accurately, and based on patient age and condition.
• Assist the RN with initial assessments and reassessments per policy.
• Identify and implement rehabilitation nursing interventions.
• Perform Quality Improvement assessments under RN supervision.
• Deliver care based on patient response and update the interdisciplinary plan.
• Assess and reassess pain; educate patients and families.
• Perform all patient care tasks promoting safety and reducing errors.
• Develop and implement individualized teaching plans for patients and families.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

More about our team Jefferson Regional and Kindred Rehabilitation Services Unit is a 40‑bed acute Inpatient Rehabilitation where you will provide compassionate care to patients alongside a dedicated team of Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). Our team provides compassionate inpatient rehabilitation care to patients recovering from acute injuries, illnesses, or impairments, including stroke, brain or spinal cord injury, orthopedic injury, cardiovascular or pulmonary conditions, neurological disorders, amputation, and trauma. highest level of independence while supporting one another in delivering exceptional care every day.

Jefferson Regional Specialty Hospital is a 76-bed, inpatient acute rehabilitation hospital and behavioral health unit jointly operated by Jefferson Regional and Lifepoint Health. Our rehabilitation programs provide ongoing care and specialized treatment to patients throughout their recovery journey. Featuring all private rooms, we offer customized, intense rehabilitation tailored to the individual needs of those recovering from stroke, brain injury, neurological conditions, trauma, spinal cord injury, amputation, and orthopedic injury.

How you'll contribute

• Administer medications safely, accurately, and based on patient age and clinical condition.


• Minimize potential for medication errors by following proper medication administration procedures.


• Assist the RN with initial assessments and patient reassessments per policy.


• Identify and implement appropriate rehabilitation nursing interventions.


• Perform timely and accurate Quality Improvement (QI) assessments under RN supervision.


• Deliver care based on patient response to treatment and update the interdisciplinary plan accordingly.


• Assess and reassess pain; use appropriate pain management techniques and educate patients and families.


• Perform all patient care tasks in a manner that promotes patient safety and reduces medical errors.


• Develop and implement individualized teaching plans based on patient and family learning needs.


• Perform other duties as assigned.

What we're looking for

Applicants should have a current state or compact state LPN license. Additional requirements include:

• Certifications: AHA Basic Life Support (BLS).


• Experience: Minimum six months of Medical/Surgical experience in an acute care setting preferred


• Licenses: Current state licensure as a Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurse.


• Education: Associate's degree required. Graduate of an accredited Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurse program.
