Job summary

Highpoint Health Winchester is seeking a dedicated Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for our Pediatrics Clinic. The full-time role, scheduled 8a-4p, involves direct patient care under RN supervision and teamwork to deliver child-focused services.

You will perform plan of care interventions, assist with daily living activities, manage documentation, and help coordinate appointments and insurance re-authorizations. A Tennessee LPN license and BLS are required.

Qualifications

• Active Tennessee LPN license (single-state or compact) required.
• Graduate of a Practical Nursing program.
• BLS certification within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct patient care under supervision of a registered nurse.
• Performs plan of care interventions, specimen collection and wound care; may administer medications; documents care.
• Assists RN with development of plan of care.
• Assists patients with activities of daily living including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition and ambulation.
• Monitors, documents, and communicates patient status and reactions to interventions with RN, physician, patient, and families.
• Advocates for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
• Schedules appointments and procedures as ordered by the provider.
• Obtains insurance re-authorizations as requested for testing and scheduled procedures.

How you'll contribute

A Clinic LPN who excels in this role:

• As supervised and delegated by a registered nurse, provides direct patient care in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice.




• Performs plan of care interventions, including specimen collection and wound care. May administer medication. Documents patient care given.




• Assists RN with development of plan of care.




• Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.




• Monitors, documents, and communicates patient's status and reactions to interventions with RN, physician, patient, and families.




• Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.

What we're looking for

Applicants should have an Active Tennessee license (single-state or compact) and be a graduate of a Practical Nursing program. If relocating, licensure must be updated to the new Primary State of Residence (PSOR) before employment begins. Additional requirements include:

• Certifications: AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire.




• Required Skills: Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.




• Licenses: LPN License for the State of Tennessee.




• Education: Graduate of a Practical Nursing program.

Highpoint Health - Winchester with Ascension Saint Thomas is a 157-bed facility that includes 131 licensed acute care beds and 26 skilled nursing home beds.
