Job summary

Highpoint Health Winchester with Ascension Saint Thomas is seeking a Clinic LPN for the Heart and Vascular Clinic. The role is full-time, days, with a schedule of Monday-Thursday 8a-5p and Friday 8a-12p.

Licensed Practical Nurse with TN license and BLS is required, along with a Practical Nursing diploma, to support patient care and daily operations. The LPN will work under supervision, perform plan of care tasks, assist with activities of daily living, and coordinate with RN and providers.

Qualifications

• Active Tennessee license to practice as an LPN.
• Graduate of a Practical Nursing program.
• BLS certification within 30 days of hire.
• Ability to perform plan of care, wound care and specimen collection with RN supervision.
• Licensure in Tennessee and eligibility for PSOR relocation if needed.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct patient care under supervision in accordance with scope and standards.
• Performs plan of care interventions including specimen collection and wound care; may administer medication.
• Supports RN with plan of care development.
• Assists patients with activities of daily living and monitors status.
• Documents patient care and communicates with RN, physician, patient and families.
• Schedules appointments and processes insurance re-authorizations as requested.

How you'll contribute

A Clinic LPN who excels in this role:

• As supervised and delegated by a registered nurse, provides direct patient care in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice.
• Performs plan of care interventions, including specimen collection and wound care. May administer medication. Documents patient care given.
• Assists RN with development of plan of care.
• Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
• Monitors, documents, and communicates patient's status and reactions to interventions with RN, physician, patient, and families.
• Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
• Schedules appointments and procedures as ordered by the provider.
• Obtains insurance re-authorizations as requested for testing and scheduled procedures.

What we're looking for

Applicants should have an Active Tennessee license (single-state or compact) and be a graduate of a Practical Nursing program. If relocating, licensure must be updated to the new Primary State of Residence (PSOR) before employment begins. Additional requirements include:

• Certifications: AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire.
• Required Skills: Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
• Licenses: LPN License for the State of Tennessee.
• Education: Graduate of a Practical Nursing program.
