Job summary

Highpoint Health Winchester with Ascension Saint Thomas is seeking a Clinic LPN to deliver compassionate patient care in a busy clinic setting under supervision. You will support nursing staff and contribute to quality care for our communities.

The role requires an active Tennessee Practical Nursing license, BLS within 30 days of hire, and the ability to work under pressure while coordinating care with providers to ensure timely testing and treatment.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care under supervision by a registered nurse.
• Develop and assist with plan of care; perform specimen collection and wound care.
• Assist RN with plan of care development.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living: hygiene, nutrition, ambulation.
• Monitor, document, and communicate patient status and responses to interventions with RN and physicians.
• Advocate for patient physical and emotional well-being.
• Schedule patient appointments and procedures as ordered.
• Obtain insurance re-authorizations for testing and procedures.

How You'll Contribute

A Clinic LPN who excels in this role:

• As supervised and delegated by a registered nurse, provides direct patient care in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice.
• Performs plan of care interventions, including specimen collection and wound care. May administer medication. Documents patient care given.
• Assists RN with development of plan of care.
• Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
• Monitors, documents, and communicates patient's status and reactions to interventions with RN, physician, patient, and families.
• Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
• Schedules appointments and procedures as ordered by the provider.
• Obtains insurance re-authorizations as requested for testing and scheduled procedures.

What We're Looking For

Applicants should have an Active Tennessee license (single-state or compact) and be a graduate of a Practical Nursing program. If relocating, licensure must be updated to the new Primary State of Residence (PSOR) before employment begins. Additional requirements include:

• Certifications: AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire.
• Required Skills: Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
• Licenses: LPN License for the State of Tennessee.
• Education: Graduate of a Practical Nursing program.

Highpoint Health - Winchester with Ascension Saint Thomas is a 157-bed facility that includes 131 licensed acute care beds and 26 skilled nursing home beds. Fully accredited by The Joint Commission, the hospital offers a wide range of inpatient and outpatient services supported by a qualified and diverse medical staff. Key services include a 10-bed Intensive Care Unit (ICU), a 12-bed Geriatric Psychiatry Unit, and a 12-bed Acute Inpatient Physical Rehabilitation Unit. The facility also features a Skilled Nursing Unit, Sleep Lab, Cardiac Catheterization Lab, five Operating Rooms, and two Endoscopy Suites.
