Job summary

Highpoint Health Winchester is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in Behavioral Health to join our team. This full-time day position supports patient care under RN supervision, assists with assessments and plan-of-care activities, and ensures proper documentation and patient comfort.

The role requires a TN or compact LPN license, BLS within 30 days, and at least 1 year of experience in a clinical setting. Rotate weekends and 3x12 shifts; strong critical thinking is essential.

Qualifications

• Current Tennessee or compact state LPN license.
• Graduate of a Practical Nursing program.
• AHA BLS certification within 30 days of hire.
• One year of experience preferred; strong critical thinking and ability to work with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care under supervision by a registered nurse.
• Assist in patient assessment by collecting data for RN review.
• Perform plan-of-care interventions: wound care, specimen collection, may administer medications.
• Documentation of patient care and status; communicate with RN/physician/family.
• Assist RN with development of plan of care.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living and personal care.
• Monitor patient status and respond to interventions with the care team.

Job Type: Full-Time | Days

Schedule: 3x12; 7a-7p; Rotating Weekends

A Behavioral Health LPN who excels in this role:

• As supervised and delegated by a registered nurse, provides direct patient care in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice.
• Under the direction of an RN or Rehab Charge Nurse, contributes to the assessment of patients by collecting data for analysis by an RN.
• Performs plan of care interventions, including specimen collection and wound care. May administer medication. Documents patient care given.
• Assists RN with development of plan of care.
• Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
• Monitors, documents, and communicates patient’s status and reactions to interventions with RN, physician, patient, and families.
• Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.

What we're looking for

Applicants should have a current Tennessee or compact state LPN license and be a graduate of a Practical Nursing Program. Additional requirements include:

• Certifications: AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire.
• Required Skills: Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
• Experience: One-year previous experience preferred.
• Licenses: LPN License for the State of Tennessee.
