Job summary

The Gardens at Aldersgate in Topeka, KS is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to provide compassionate nursing care to our residents. You will join a team of dedicated healthcare professionals and work under the supervision of our nursing leadership.

Responsibilities include administering medications, monitoring residents, documenting care, and supporting daily living activities. We offer shift differentials, a staff referral program, tuition reimbursement, mentorship for career

Responsibilities

• Enhancing the clinical care and quality of life of our residents; protect resident rights.
• Preparing and administering medications as ordered by the physician.
• Checking residents daily to ensure proper treatment and evaluating status.
• Informing RN Supervisor about residents, staff and related matters.
• Implementing changes directed by RN Supervisor or Director of Nurses.
• Administering professional services (catheterization, tube feeding, etc.) per policies.
• Completing LPN record-keeping forms at admission, discharge or transfer.
• Giving and receiving nursing reports at shift start/end.
• Investigating complaints and filing reports as needed.
• Presenting professionally to residents and families.

As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) you are responsible for providing exceptional nursing care in accordance with our policies and procedures. You will have all of the training, support, tools & equipment you need to provide the highest degree of quality care. Our team of nursing care professionals & mentors will be by your side every day, including a Charge Nurse, RN Supervisor, Director of Nursing and Administrator.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Enhancing the clinical care and quality of life of our residents. And ensuring that all resident rights are protected.
• Preparing and administering medications as ordered by the physician.
• Checking all residents daily to ensure that prescribed treatment is being properly administered by nursing personnel/assistants and to evaluate their physical and emotional status.
• Keeping the RN Supervisor informed about the status of residents, staff and related matters.
• Implementing recommended changes as directed by the RN Supervisor or the Director of Nurses.
• Administering professional services such as: catheterization, tube feeding, suction, applying and changing dressings/bandages, packs, colostomy and drainage bags, taking blood, sputum, and urine specimens, etc., as established by the facility’s policies and procedures.
• Completing all Licensed Practical Nurse LPN required record keeping forms/charts upon the resident’s admission, discharge, transfer, etc. File in the resident’s chart and/or forward to the appropriate department.
• Giving and receiving nursing reports upon reporting in and ending shift duty hours.
• Investigating complaints and grievances and making necessary oral/written reports to the RN Supervisor or Director of Nurses.
• Presenting in a professional image to residents and families through dress, behavior and speech.
• Adhering to our policies and standards.
