Job summary

Bristol Hospice is seeking a compassionate Licensed Vocational Nurse (LPN/LVN) to provide direct patient care in the Snohomish County area. This full-time, hourly role supports end-of-life care within our Bristol Hospice team, with daytime hours from 8 am to 5 pm and a Monday–Friday schedule.

Qualifications

  • Must be licensed as LPN/LVN in the state.
  • Three years nursing experience; hospice or medical/surgical preferred.
  • Understand hospice philosophy and needs of the terminally ill.
  • Flexible in work hours.
  • Willingness to maintain knowledge of information systems.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care as defined in State Nurse Practice Act and end-of-life duties.
  • Implement current nursing practice based on assessments and plan of care.
  • Document patient services accurately and timely to reflect care plan.
  • Educate patient and family/caregiver about diagnosis and self-care.
  • Coordinate hospice services and report needs to interdisciplinary team.
  • Prepare equipment and supplies following aseptic technique.
  • Provide pain and symptom management and evaluate treatment responses.
  • Participate in ongoing professional growth and quality improvement activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the registered nurse.

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm

Qualifications

An Average Day:


  • Provide direct patient care as defined in State Nurse Practice Act, including specialized duties related to end of life care

  • Implement current nursing practice following a comprehensive assessment and the plan of care

  • Provide accurate and timely documentation of patient services to reflect the plan of care

  • Assess and provide patient and family/caregiver education and information pertinent to diagnosis and self-plan of care

  • Participate in coordination of hospice services, appropriately reporting the identified needs to the interdisciplinary group; examples include hospice aide, OT, PT, SW, ST, Dietician or Clinical Supervisor

  • Use and prepare equipment and supplies effectively, adhering to aseptic technique

  • Provide appropriate pain/symptom management

  • Evaluate patients response to treatments/medications

  • Participate in personal, professional growth and development

  • Participate in organization\'s quality assessment performance improvement teams and activities

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the registered nurse

  • All other duties as assigned


Requirements


  • Must currently be licensed as an LPN/LVN in the State

  • Must have three (3) years nursing experience, community health/hospice or medical/surgical experience is preferred

  • Must understand the philosophy of hospice concept and understand needs of the terminally ill

  • Must be flexible in work hours

  • Must demonstrate a willingness to maintain comprehensive working knowledge regarding information systems and applicable software programs
