Join to apply for the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) role at VITAS Healthcare.

This job involves administering nursing care to terminally ill patients according to the care plan and in compliance with the Nurse Practice Act in the respective state.

Job Responsibilities
  1. Provide direct skilled bedside nursing care.
  2. Evaluate patient/family needs and assist in developing and executing the interdisciplinary care plan.
  3. Perform acts under RN supervision, including administering treatments and medications.
  4. Monitor and evaluate treatment effectiveness and patient reactions.
  5. Report significant changes to the registered nurse, Team Manager, or Physician, and document accordingly.
  6. Maintain a safe and clean environment for patients and families.
  7. Accurately document clinical notes and patient responses.
  8. Use a variety of nursing skills to carry out medical orders and treatments.
  9. Assist in designing and delivering the interdisciplinary plan of care.
  10. Establish therapeutic relationships with patients and families, promoting independence.
  11. Implement nursing protocols related to patient comfort and well-being.
  12. Participate in patient and family teaching about illness management, self-care, and discharge planning.
  13. Engage in continuous professional development through in-service and community educational programs.
  14. Participate in on-call rotation and work flexible hours, including weekends and shifts.
Job Requirements
  • Must have reliable transportation, valid liability insurance, and a license to practice nursing in the state.
Qualifications
  • Graduate of an approved Practical/Vocational nursing program.
  • Current nursing license in the state of practice.
  • At least one year of nursing experience, preferably in a hospital medical-surgical unit.
  • Equivalent experience may be considered.
Physical and Other Requirements
  • Assist with lifting and transferring patients.
  • Lift objects over 20 pounds.
  • Stand or walk for extended periods.
  • Visual and auditory acuity required for patient care.
