Qualifications

• Possession of a GPN permit and license within one year of appointment; maintenance of license.
• Special requirement: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification at time of appointment for ECMCC positions.
• Special requirement for Health Department positions: valid NY driver’s license and private vehicle use.

Responsibilities

• Maintains equipment used in patient care.
• Administers and documents medications.
• Performs treatments and procedures as assigned.
• Provides patient and family health teaching per care plan.
• Records vital signs and patient weights.
• Administers internal feedings and monitors patient conditions.
• Reports changes to the nurse in charge and documents status.
