Qualifications

• Completion of a course of study in a registered School of Practical Nursing approved by the New York State Education Department
• Possession of a license and current registration to practice as an LPN in New York
• Possession of a limited Graduate Practical Nurse (GPN) permit if applicable
• BLS certification required for ECMCC positions

Responsibilities

• Maintains equipment used in the care of patients
• Administers and documents medications
• Performs treatments and procedures
• Provides patient and family health care teaching as per plan
• Records vital signs and weights
• Administers internal feedings
• Observes and documents patient conditions
• Reports incidents to the nurse in charge
• Performs charge duties when needed
• Ensures patient safety and comfort
• Transports patients as required
• Participates in in-service education
• If assigned to LTC facility: reports changes in resident condition to RN
• Performs IV infusions and IV meds
• Performs EKG testing and phlebotomy
