Job summary

Rivers Health is seeking an LPN for a temporary internal assignment to render direct patient care and a variety of procedures under supervision of a registered nurse or licensed practical nurse. You will deliver and document care according to hospital policies and maintain patient comfort and safety.

Key duties include following aseptic technique, observing and reporting changes in condition, safely transporting patients and supplies, protecting patient privacy, and helping with unit cleanliness

Qualifications

• Basic ability to read, write and understand simple instructions.
• CPR and BLS certifications required.
• Meet unit proficiency standards.

Responsibilities

• Delivers and documents care according to hospital policies.
• Follows aseptic technique and uses sterile technique when indicated.
• Observes and reports patient concerns to a nurse immediately.
• Safely transports patients, supplies, and specimens.
• Protects patient privacy and respects values of individuals.
• Assists with orientation of new employees.
• Completes annual competencies and unit cleanliness.
• May cross-train to other units and participate in quality improvement.

• Follows strict aseptic technique at all times. Uses sterile technique when indicated.
• Observes and reports all patient concerns and changes in condition to a Nurse immediately.
• Safely transports patients, supplies, and specimens.
• Respects patient's privacy rights, respects values of individual patients, and provides care accordingly.
• Assists with orientation of new employees.
• Completes all annual competencies.
• Assists with unit cleanliness.
• Performs other duties that may be assigned.
• Complies with Corporate Policies, Procedures and Personnel Employee Handbook.
• Must be able to cross-train to other units.
• Demonstrates excellence in customer service skills.
• Fosters an atmosphere of teamwork and collaboration. Participates in unit meetings.
• Participates in quality improvement activities including serving on quality improvement teams.

EDUCATION AND FORMAL TRAINING:

Basic ability to read, write and understand simple instructions. CPR required. Meet unit proficiency standards. High school graduate or equivalent required. BLS required.

WORK EXPERIENCE:

Previous experience in health care facility delivering direct patient care preferred.
