The Licensed Practical Nurse II (LPNII)

Under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN), the purpose of this position is to provide direct nursing care services to patients. Responsibilities include ensuring patient comfort and safety, observing and documenting patient conditions, administering medications and treatments, and participating in care planning. The LPN II cares for patients with various health needs and works in a secure environment following policies to ensure safety.

The role involves managing the milieu, supervising patients during activities, documenting observations, participating in team meetings, and mentoring staff. It requires adherence to Nursing Standards of Care, departmental policies, and quality assurance protocols. Immediate crisis intervention and emergency response are also key responsibilities.

Clinical Skills
  • Administer nursing care, medications, and treatments as per standards
  • Respond to safety and security issues
  • Utilize therapeutic interventions for crisis management
  • Follow all nursing procedures and participate in trauma-informed care initiatives
  • Maintain professional boundaries and contribute to patient care planning
Accountability
  • Follow CMHHIP standards, policies, and guidelines
  • Maintain licensure and adhere to infection control standards
  • Ensure safe transport of patients and keep training current
  • Participate in quality improvement processes and staff meetings
Other Duties

Perform any additional tasks as needed to support the unit and department.

Qualifications
  • Current, valid RN licensure from Colorado or participating states
  • Completion of an approved IV certification course
  • Experience requirements may be substituted with appropriate education
