Job summary

Cook County Health is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse to provide high-quality care for detainees at Cermak Health Services. Under RN direction, you will deliver medications, monitor patient status, and perform essential nursing duties in a correctional setting.

The role requires Illinois licensure, CPR certification, and adherence to nursing standards. Prior clinical experience in an acute care environment is preferred, with opportunities for professional growth within the department.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited school of Practical Nursing and hold a current Illinois license, or obtainlicensure two weeks prior to starting.
• Current CPR card is required (documentation at interview).
• Completion of Pharmacology/Medication Administration coursework for Practical Nurses as per IDFPR standards.

Responsibilities

• Provides and documents nursing care for assigned patients, including treatments, dressings, medication administration, and routine rounds.
• Observes patients and reports changes in condition to RN/physician; communicates with health care team.
• Maintains professional appearance and adheres to department policies and safety plans.
• Participates in in-services and adheres to CPR, license requirements, and mandatory certifications.
• Assists with supervision of non-professional care providers and supports patient care delivery.
