Job summary

Management & Training Corporation (MTC) is hiring a Licensed Practical Nurse for the Otero County Processing Facility in Chaparral, NM. The role requires a current NM LPN license, CPR, and a valid NM or TX driver’s license.

Compensation includes $28.54 per hour plus a $2,500 sign‑on bonus for full‑time employment, with rotating 3x12 night shifts. Employment is full‑time or PRN, offering comprehensive benefits and opportunities to contribute to the care of detainees while maintaining strict

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Licensed Practical Nursing program.
• Current, valid practical nursing license for the state of New Mexico or a compact state.
• Must possess current CPR certification.
• Valid driver's license in NM or Texas with acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Assess condition of detainees reporting to sick call under health services administrator and prescribe treatment per protocol.
• Assist with provider line; prepare examining room and equipment.
• Operate pill call, administer medication and document as required, including moving a pill cart on campus.
• Control medication, syringes and other medical supplies.
• Perform emergency procedures as needed and call the physician for orders.
• Maintain HIPAA-compliant confidentiality of medical records.
• Monitor potential catastrophic illnesses.
• Comply with pharmacy laws, especially controlled substances.
• Work on an on-call basis as required.
• Prepare and maintain records, reports, and logs.
• Conduct chart reviews and review detainee health status for intervention.

Essential Responsibilities

• Under the direction of health services administrator, supervising nurse and professional service providers and in accordance with approved treatment protocol, assess condition of and prescribe treatment for detainees reporting to sick call.
• Assist with provider line; prepare examining room and equipment.
• Operate pill call, administer medication and document as required. This may include pushing and/or wheeling a pill cart on facility campus.
• Control medication, syringes and other medical supplies or equipment as required.
• Perform emergency procedures as needed and call the physician for treatment orders.
• Maintain absolute security and confidentiality of all medical records. Observe applicable HIPAA rules.
• Closely monitor all potential catastrophic illnesses.
• Comply with all applicable pharmacy laws, especially those covering controlled substances.
• Perform work on an on-call basis, as required.
• Prepare and maintain narrative, statistical, summary and operational records, reports, and logs.
• Conduct chart review; review status of detainees with serious health problems for completion of all necessary intervention and treatment.
• Perform rescue functions for accidents, emergencies and disasters to include administering basic emergency medical aid, physically removing people away from dangerous situations, and securing and evacuating people from confined areas.

Education And Experience Requirements

Completion of an accredited Licensed Practical Nursing program, current, valid practical nursing license for the state of New Mexico or compact state. Must possess current CPR certification. Valid driver's license in the state of New Mexico or Texas with an acceptable driving record required, unless waived by management.
