Licensed Practical Nurse - St. Louis Forensic Treatment Center-South
St. Louis Forensic Treatment Center-North (FTC-N), a Medicare Certified (CMS) and Joint Commission Accredited (TJC) Forensic Psychiatric Hospital operated by the Missouri Department of Mental Health, is currently seeking Licensed Practical Nurses.
Job Duties:
- Perform practical nursing duties such as treating pressure sores, skin wounds, tracheal care (oral and nasal suctioning), changing dressings, providing breathing treatments, inserting catheters, and bladder irrigations.
- Provide bedside care, including feeding and personal hygiene assistance.
- Record temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure; perform laboratory draws; observe patients for deviations from normal conditions.
- Guide and counsel direct care staff in less complex patient care tasks and medication administration.
- Assist Registered Nurses or higher-level Licensed Practical Nurses; review work records and provide instructions on patient care and hygiene management.
- Prepare, administer, and chart medications per physician orders under supervision; liaise with pharmacy regarding prescriptions.
- Prepare nursing assessment summaries and implement healthcare plans.
- Instruct patients on personal health care, including rehabilitative and preventative measures.
- Review discharge orders and consult with primary doctors as needed.
- Attend medical appointments with patients.
- Complete assessments for injuries, falls, neurology checks, and tube feedings.
- Assist with patient admissions and participate in nursing care planning.
- Perform practical nursing duties independently; work is reviewed through reports and observations.
- Perform other related work as assigned.
Requirements:
- Possession of a current LPN license in Missouri or in accordance with Missouri's Nurse Licensure Compact.
- At least one year of experience as an LPN in a hospital, institution, or healthcare facility.
